Global Alliance for Clean Fuel
GACF — Clean Fuel for a Net-Zero World
Building a Global Alliance on Clean Fuel to accelerate the transition from fossil-based energy to clean, low-carbon fuels — Biocoal, Compressed Biogas, Biodiesel, and Green Hydrogen — through international partnerships, policy advocacy, and technology transfer.
Programme Overview
The Global Alliance for Clean Fuel (GACF) is a transformative multi-country coalition co-developed by Ecopreneure to accelerate the transition from fossil-based energy systems to clean, low-carbon fuels. The programme addresses urban air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy import dependency simultaneously — targeting the full fuel transition lifecycle from production and blending through to policy frameworks and international finance.
Why This Programme Matters
Fossil fuels remain deeply embedded in India's energy mix — powering transport, cooking, industry, and power generation. The environmental and health costs are severe: air pollution causes millions of premature deaths annually, and fossil fuel imports strain India's balance of payments. Clean fuels offer a domestic, scalable, and economically viable transition pathway — but require coordinated action across policy, technology, and finance to realise their potential at scale.
Key Focus Areas
Biocoal & Compressed Biogas (CBG)
Decentralised biocoal and CBG plants converting agricultural residue, municipal solid waste, and organic biomass into clean natural gas for transport, cooking, and industrial use.
Ethanol & Biofuel Blending
Supporting India's Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme through sugarcane, maize, and biomass-based ethanol production — contributing to E20 targets and reducing crude imports.
Green Hydrogen
Facilitating Green Hydrogen development for hard-to-abate industrial sectors, heavy transport, and green ammonia production through technology and financing partnerships.
Policy & International Partnerships
Building multi-country coalitions and providing policy advisory on clean fuel regulatory frameworks, carbon pricing, technology transfer, and international climate finance under Article 6.
Bio-Pellets & Clean Fuels
Bio-pellets produced from agricultural residues and biomass represent one of the most practical and scalable clean fuel substitutes for coal — both for industrial heating and community cooking applications. Ecopreneure supports the production, quality standardization, and distribution of bio-pellets as part of an integrated biomass-to-clean-fuel value chain.
Community Impact
- Reducing dependence on fossil fuels across urban and rural energy systems
- Unlocking carbon markets and climate finance for clean fuel projects
- Building capacity for Women SHGs in bio-fuel production and clean cooking
- Partnering with international organisations for technology and knowledge transfer
- Creating rural livelihoods through decentralised biogas and bio-pellet enterprises
Expected Outcomes
- Operational biocoal and CBG plants converting waste streams to clean fuel
- Contribution to India's E20 ethanol blending targets
- Green hydrogen partnerships for industrial decarbonisation
- Multi-country GACF coalition with shared policy and technology frameworks
- Carbon credits generated through clean fuel substitution projects
- Empowered Women SHGs as clean fuel producers and entrepreneurs
