Project Background
Effective climate governance requires access to integrated, real-time data across multiple sectors — energy, transport, water, waste, agriculture, and land use. Currently, most state-level climate systems operate in silos, making it difficult for decision-makers to develop coherent Net-Zero strategies or monitor their implementation. The PRANA Dashboard addresses this gap by providing a unified digital intelligence platform designed to reflect each state's geographical diversity, ecological characteristics, and socio-economic landscape.
Objectives
- Provide a centralized platform for integrating key sectoral data for climate action planning
- Enable real-time data access, performance tracking, and transparent reporting
- Ensure interoperability with existing systems such as SAPCC 2.0, SDG dashboards, and national frameworks
- Strengthen institutional capacity for evidence-based climate decision-making
- Support MRV (Monitoring, Reporting and Verification) aligned reporting
- Accelerate the transition towards a sustainable, low-carbon future at scale
Key Interventions & Components
- Cloud-based data integration layer connecting multiple government data sources
- Sector-specific dashboards covering energy, transport, water, waste, and land use
- Real-time carbon emission tracking with trend analytics and forecast models
- Interoperability layer connecting SAPCC 2.0, disaster management platforms, and SDG dashboards
- Role-based access control for officials at city, district, and state levels
- Automated reporting for national climate commitments and NDC tracking
Implementation Approach
The PRANA Dashboard is developed through a collaborative process involving state government agencies, data custodians, and technical experts. Implementation follows a structured pathway: requirements mapping and stakeholder consultation, data architecture design, pilot deployment in selected districts, iterative refinement, and full-state rollout with capacity-building for government officials.
Technology & Innovation
The platform leverages modern cloud architecture, API-based data integration, and geospatial analytics to provide visual, actionable intelligence. Interactive maps, time-series charts, and sector-specific KPIs give policymakers a clear picture of progress toward climate targets. The system is designed for scalability and can be adapted to any Indian state's specific data ecosystem.
Climate & Environmental Impact
By enabling real-time tracking of GHG emissions and sector-specific progress, PRANA supports more targeted and effective climate interventions. Improved data visibility prevents resource misallocation and enables faster course-correction when emission trajectories deviate from targets.
Community & Social Impact
The dashboard strengthens institutional capacity by giving local officials, district administrators, and state planners the data they need to coordinate climate action effectively. Transparent public-facing dashboards build accountability and community awareness of climate progress.
Expected Outcomes
- A fully functional, integrated climate data platform at the state level
- Improved inter-agency coordination through shared data infrastructure
- Transparent MRV reporting aligned with national and international standards
- Reduced time-to-insight for climate policymakers
- Scalable model deployable across multiple Indian states
- Foundation for carbon market participation and climate finance access
